About Palm Springs Cemetery District:
Established in 1917, the Palm Springs Cemetery District is a public agency dedicated to serving the Coachella Valley with care, dignity, and respect. The District operates two cemeteries—Welwood Murray Cemetery in Palm Springs and Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City—providing burial and memorial services for residents across the region.
With more than a century of service, the District plays an important role in preserving local history while offering a peaceful setting for remembrance. From early desert pioneers to notable community figures, the cemeteries reflect the legacy and stories that have shaped the Coachella Valley.
