The Pierre Cardin brand is one of the world’s most recognizable and respected businesses in the world, that which extends to more than one hundred countries and employs close to 200,000 people.

Pierre Cardin’s Palm Springs Imprint –

In 1986, the hotel we know as Hyatt Palm Springs opened its doors for the very first time as Maxim’s de Paris Hotel of Palm Springs. The luxury hotel was part of a large redevelopment and revision of existing Desert Fashion Plaza (built in 1967) with Saks Fifth Avenue as it major anchor store.

Cardin’s stake in the Maxim’s brand first began with the legendary Paris, France restaurant which he took ownership of in 1981. A business venture into luxury hotels that would expand on the product quality and stylish exuberance of the Maxim’s de Paris Restaurant followed with the very first Maxim’s de Paris Hotel right here in Palm Springs, which opened in February 1986.

Fast track to 2020 and the release of the sensational and captivating documentary – “House of Cardin” – a film that has audiences fascinated by the story it tells of this man and his cosmic journey through this extraordinary life. Walk of the Stars is over the moon to be honoring the icon, Pierre Cardin, with a star in downtown Palm Springs in coordination with the producers of “House of Cardin” and Cardin’s friends and family. Their film, which documents the story of the world’s most recognizable fashion industry icon of the last century, presents us a rare narrative which will compliment this star dedication with cosmic-like style.
